- Born in 1967 in Nicosia Cyprus, Melina Shukuroglou received her BFA from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. in 1990. She was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards including the Academic Excellence Award in 1989, and the Mary Fredenburg Torsani Memorial Award for outstanding performance in the Painting Department. In 1990 attended the Sotheby’s course “Rules for buying and selling Works of Art”. She was employed at Sotheby's Mid Atlantic Region Office, based in Washington, D.C.
In 1992 she collaborated with the Levendis Museum in Nicosia setting the first Educational Program for Children in a Museum. Since then she had various solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows.
In 2006 she was the Cyprus representative for the 10th Cairo Biennale where Cyprus was awarded the Best Pavilion Award. The Artist currently leaves and works in Nicosia. She teaches Art in open program workshops for children.
